Our second open digital competition of the season was judged by Steven Yahr. Steven said if you want to succeed in a competition you need to think like a judge. Following the Basics of Photography lecture, we had a critique night with experienced photographers reviewing photos related to the lecture. This was commentary only, no scoring, and many members joined in the discussion. One tag line became “less is more”, a reminder to make the main subject fill the screen and stand out to the viewer.
On January 10th Pat Carroll gave a long presentation covering The Basics of Photography. He covered most of the setting found on today’s digital cameras and explained the various ways you can manipulate f-stops and the resulting exposures.
