For the upcoming season, Raritan Photographic Society will meet at American Legion Joyce Kilmer Post 25, 4 John F. Kennedy Drive in Milltown. Doors open at 7 P.M. Meetings start at 7:30 P.M. The first 30 minutes is time for refreshments and meet and greet new attendees. The meetings start at 7:30 PM and proceed without a break until last competition or lecturer is finished. Raritan Photographic Society has general meetings from September through May.
The second Thursday is reserved for lectures, critiques or presentations. The fourth Thursday is reserved for competitions and critiques. The only meeting in December is the Holiday Dinner. June is set aside for our Annual Banquet and “Best of the Best” competition. Planning meetings are held during the summer, and are announced in June. Occasionally, the schedule is modified for Thanksgiving or religious holidays. Check our website for current information.
On the second Thursday, members and guests may be offered a critique session, a members’ presentation night or a lecture by a professional photographer or by an advanced amateur who has competed in juried competitions.
On the fourth Thursday, images submitted by paid members by the deadline will compete at their skill level in color or monochrome. See rules for submission of images for competition. Judges selected by Raritan Photographic Society will offer commentary on the images and award a score based on New Jersey Federation of Camera Clubs’ guidelines. Based on your scoring averages and number of entries, you will be eligible for promotion to the next level. Starting in 2018-2019 three of the competition nights will e critique nights where members can submit work based upon what they learned at the previous tutorial night. These critiques are anonymous and meant to reinforce the subjects covered in the prior meeting.
