First competition under the new system - fewer photos entered allowing more time for judge's commentary. Our judge was Alan Bogard, president of the Monmouth and Manalapan Photography Clubs. The theme was Abandoned/Old. Alan pointed out that in a themed competition it is very important that the most impactful element of the image be aligned with the theme. Another key learning was paying attention to the edges of the photo, he often suggested tighter cropping or removal of distracting elements, particularly writing. A thin white stroke around the image was also recommended.
