End of the Year Banquet 2013-2014

On Thursday, June 12th 2014, we had our End of the Year Banquet.

This year we were again blessed with a good array of gifts to raffle of through out the evening. We had gift cards to various stores, several subscriptions for the magazine C'T Digital Photography and books donated by Rocky Nook, and a camera holster donated by Hunt's Photo & Video.

After the opening words with some good jokes by Karen Goldenberg, it was time for a nice dinner buffet. The room was filled with chatter and laughter coming from all the tables and it was clear everybody was enjoying their meal.

After Karen raffled of some prizes, Peter van der Does took the microphone. He looked back at a successful  season and was looking forward to continue the path the club has taken with field trips, workshops and our regular competitions and lectures. It was time to announce which members are advancing.

  • Susan Fielder will advance to Advanced Color and Advanced B&W
  • Susan Powell will advance to Advanced Color
  • Seth Sloan will advance to Advanced B&W

Congratulation to all three for accomplishing this milestone.

The person who is most improved this year was Susan Powell and she received a framed certificate for this accomplishment.

Every year the Fred Steiger Award is given to a member of the club who showed commitment, devotion and loyalty to the Raritan Photographic Society and photography in general. This year the award was given to Jake Chapple. Jake past away in December of 2013 and his wife Cathy was at the banquet to receive the award.

It was time to judge the photos that were entered in our Best of the Best competition. Our judge for the evening was Roman Kurywczak and before he started the judging he gave a short presentation about his photography.

These are the photos he chose as best in their own category, both Digital and Print.

There was no entry for Advanced B&W Print.

Congratulations to all winners.

Out of these winners he finally selected the Best of the Best for the season.
